Adamaant Castle

Adamaant Castle lies in the village of Ruispiri, in the Telavi municipality in the Kakheti region in Georgia.

Adamaant Castle was built at the end of the 18th century. I don't know anything about its history. If you know something; please mail me.

The castle is of a local type, called a 'wine cellar tower', which means it consisted of a building used to produce and store wine and a tower to defend it. In Kakheti I found one other of this type of castle; Beraant Castle.

The castle has a rectangular ground plan with a tower attached to a hall. The first floor only had an economic function, with a wine press and wine cellar in the tower section, The second floor had a residential and defensive function. On top of the hall and the tower, at 2 different levels, there were crenelated terraces equipped with gun holes.

At present Adamaant Castle is fenced off, so not freely accessible. A lovely little tower house. South of the village there is also another castle; Ruispiri Castle.
