Asar Castle

Asar Castle, locally known as Asar Kalesi or Hisar Kalesi, lies in the village of Hisarköy, in the province of Izmir in Turkey.

Asar Castle dates back to Roman-Byzantine times. It was restored during the rule of the Aydinoglu Principality and later again under Ottoman rule. This was all the historical information I was able to find. If you know more, please mail me.

The castle has an irregular ground plan alongside a ridge next to a small river. Its main gate was at the northwest.

A nice village ruin. The village is partly built in and against the castle. It is freely accessible.
