I visited this tower in 2004.
Mulken Tower lies in the village of Mulken, just west of the town of Tongeren (Tongres in French), in Belgium.
From the original castle; a fortified keep with a bailey with a farm, only the ruin of the keep remains.
The 8-sided keep dates back to the 14th century although I've also read that it might even date back to the
11th century. The keep is also known as the Templar Tower, why, I don't know.
The orignally subterranean foundation of the keep is covered with rough silexbloks, corresponding with the
circular cellar inside. Originally the entrance would have been on the first floor, reachable by a removable
wooden staircase. This first floor would have been the reception and kitchen level.
I haven't been able to find anything about its place in history, former owners or who built it. So if you can
provide me with this information, please mail me!
The tower is situated on the grounds of a farm hotel. This is private property so access is prohibited.
Except for guests I presume. It's a nice keep, too bad I couldn't climb it.
