I visited this castle in 2009.
Auxi-le-Château Castle, locally known as Château de Auxi-le-Château, lies on a rocky outcrop in the
village with the same name, north west of the town of Doullens in the Pas-de-Calais department in
the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region in France.
Auxi-le-Château Castle was built in 1178 by Philippe d'Alsace, Count of Flanders. In 1412 the village
of Auxi-le-Château was the scene of a battle between the Charles the Bold, Duke of Burgundy and Louis
XI, Duke of France. As a result of this battle the castle was dismantled.
This is all the historical information I was able to find about this castle. If you know more, please
mail me!
As you can guess from the pictures this is not one I'd recommend. It is just a big piece of wall with
little architectural detail. It is also part of a small housing area built on the castle site which
is private.
