I visited this castle in 2009.
Pernant Castle, locally known as Château de Pernant, lies on a rocky outcrop next to the
village with the same name, west of the city of Soissons in the Aisne department in the Picardy region
in France.
Pernant castle dates back to the 14th/15th century. It was rebuilt in the 16th century. During WW I the
area was bombed which caused large damage to the castle. Afterwards it fell to ruin. A wing dating back
to the Renaissance has disappeared. I could not find any other historical information about it. If you
know more; please mail me!
At present Pernant Castle is situated on the grounds of a farm. It is private property and can not be
visited but can easily be seen from the public road. The gate pictured below, seems to be the old
entrance to the castle. It gives access to the dry moat cut out of the rock below the old keep. Too bad
I couldn't get in.
