I visited this castle in 2011.
Potelle Castle, locally known as Château de Potelle, lies west of the hamlet of the same name, east of the town of Le Quesnoy, in the Nord department in the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region in France.
Potelle Castle may have been preceded by a castle built by the Lords of Mortagne dating back to the 13th century. The present castle was built in the early 14th by Gilles de Potelle.
In 1499 Potelle Castle was sold to Jean II Carondelet, councillor of the Great Duchal Council of Philip I of Castile.
Before 1700 the buildings which made up the eastern side of the castle dissappeared. It is not known if this was done to remove its defensive capability or to adapt the castle to a more comfortable way of living.
At present Potelle Castle is privately owned and can not be visited. A very nice castle.
