I visited this castle in 2000.
Thirlwall Castle lies between the village of Greenhead and the Roman Army Museum at Hadrian's Wall in the county of Northumberland in England.
It's a ruin of a mid-1300's tower house with a tower at each corner. It is mainly built with stones taken from the nearby Roman wall.
When I visited it, I parked the car at the above museum and walked for about half an hour along the Pennine Way in western direction. Recommended!
