Al Ghabbi Castle

Al Ghabbi Castle lies in the neighborhood of the same name in the town of Bidiya, in the Ash Sharqiyah South Governorate in Oman.

I know absolutely nothing about this castle, not even if it has a name. I named it Al Ghabbi Castle after the town it is situated in. It probably was a small fortification that served as the seat of a local tribe leader and protected the oasis next to it.

It probably had a simple square plan, with at least one round corner tower. All that remains today are a ruined tower and a connecting piece of wall, all of which are slowly crumbling away.

Al Ghabbi Castle is freely accessible. It is not very interesting, but nice to see if you visit nearby Al Muntarib Castle.
