Kvemo Chala Towers

The Kvemo Chala Towers are standing in the village of the same name, in the Kaspi municipality in the Shida Kartli region in Georgia.

In the same village, almost on the other side of the road, is the main Amilakhvari Castle. These 2 towers are actually the remnants of 2 smaller castles, which also belonged to the Amilakhvari family who were Georgian nobles. Together these 3 fortifications formed a defensive unit. Both the towers date back to the middle of the 18th century.

The northern tower has been restored and is now part of what seemed like a residence.

The bigger southern tower is called the Amindino Amilakhvari Tower. It is in a more ruined state and its interior can not be visited. Next to it is a small church which might be contemporary.

As does Amilakhvari Castle, both towers have intervisibility with Skhvilo Castle in the hills east of the village.

Only the exterior of both towers can be observed. Together with Amilakhvari Castle these towers make for a nice visit.
