Leitrim Castle

Leitrim Castle

Leitrim Castle lies in the townland of the same name, in County Cork, in Ireland.

Not much is known about the history of this small castle. Leitrim probably dates back to the 13th or 14th century. It was a seat of the Condon family before passing to the Sherlocks in 1597. In 1657 it was granted to the Campions, who held it until 1875.

The remains of the castle consist of a much ruined bawn wall of a square plan situated in a field.

Leitrim Castle lies on private land, so it can not be visited. A rather overgrown ruin from which you can not see architectural details from afar. Not interesting.
