Oldcourt Castle

Oldcourt Castle lies on the east shore of the Ilen estuary, west of the town of Skibbereen, in County Cork in Ireland.

I don't know when Oldcourt Castle was built but probably during the 15th century. It was then owned by the powerful O'Driscoll family. After the Battle of Kinsale in 1601 it was captured by the English. I don't know any more historical info about this castle. If you know more, please mail me.

It consists of a somewhat square 4-storey tower in the southwest wall of a rectangular enclosure. The enclosure is very ruined too and altered.

A small ruined tower, situated at the back of a local but bustling boatyard. It can be visited if you ask permission.
