Al Qala's Fort

Al Qala's Fort, lies in the quiet fishing village of the same name, in the Musandam Governorate in Oman.

I could not find any historical information about Al Qala's Fort. Because of its proximity to Bukha Castle and its location; on a high hill overlooking the village and castle of Bukha, I suspect it was built as a watch tower, to guard the southern approach to Bukha Castle. And as that castle dates back to the 16th/17th century, I suspect Al Qala's Fort dates back to the 17th or 18th century.

Al Qala's Fort probably started out as a simple round watch tower. The surrounding fortification was probably added at a later date. I think it was restored in recent years.

I don't know if Al Qala's Fort can be visited. When I came by it was closed, and I could find no signs that it was ever accessible. From its location, you have a great view over nearby Bukha Castle.
