Torrecilla Tower

Torrecilla Tower, locally known as Torre de Torrecilla, lies on a hill south of the city of Lorca in the province of Murcia in Spain.

Torrecilla Tower was probably built in the 11th century during Arab rule. It served as a watchtower, guarding the road between Murcia and Granada. It was part of series of similar towers, strategically located along the Guadalentín valley.

It has a square plan with 3 floors. As can be seen, it has been restored in recent decades.

At present Torrecilla Tower can freely be visited. You can almost drive up to it over a dirt road. Judging by the graffiti inside, it is used as a hangout for local youth. A simple tower offering great views.
