Al Wafi Castle

Al Wafi Castle lies in the neighborhood of the same name in the town of Al Kamil Wal Wafi, in the Ash Sharqiyah South Governorate in Oman.

The castle is officially called Hisn (castle) Aisha Al-Rasbiyeh, sons of Umair, Sheikh Al-Wafi. I choose to call it Al Wafi Castle, after the village it was situated in. I could not find any historical information about it. If you know more, please mail me.

The castle has a square ground plan with a high, slender keep, freestanding within the enclosure. The rest of the enclosure seemed to be rather empty.

Sadly enough, Al Wafi Castle was not accessible when I visited. I don't know if it ever opens for visits. Too bad, because the keep looks beautiful on the outside, making me curious about its interior.
