Wenzersdorf Castle

Wenzersdorf Castle, locally known as Schloss Wenzersdorf, lies in the village of the same name, in the province of Lower Austria in Austria.

Wenzersdorf Castle was built in 1560 by Jakob Erasmus von Karnaser and Andreas Bauckinger on the site of an earlier fortification. Originally the building was supposed to have had 4 wings with octagonal corner towers. But apparently only half of the building was built.

It was inhabited until 1919.

During World War II the castle suffered extensive damage and was burned down. It has been left to fall to ruin ever since.

At present Wenzersdorf Castle is rather overgrown and still private property. It is fenced off, so it can not be visited. A curious angular castle.
