Alcalat Castle

Alcalat Castle, locally known as Castillo de Alcalat, lies in the center of the village of Espejo in the province of Córdoba in Spain.

Alcalat Castle, a medieval castle in Gothic style, was built in the 14th century by a powerful Christian nobleman; Pay Arias de Castro. The village grew up around the castle.

This is all the historical information I was able to find about the castle. If you know more; please mail me!

The castle has a quadrangular ground plan with 4 towers at its corners and a central keep, called Torre del Caballero; the Knight's Tower.

When I visited the castle was closed and I do not know if the castle can be visited. Too bad, because its a lovely castle in a sleepy village.
