Bierbais Tower

The Bierbais Tower, locally known as Tour de Bierbais, stands south of the town of Mont-Saint-Guibert, in the Walloon Brabant province in the Wallonia region in Belgium.
The Bierbais Tower is the last remnant of medieval Bierbais Castle. It probably served as a gate tower providing access to an enclosure. It was built in the 12th and 13th centuries by the Lords of Bierbais, who were named after their main seigniory in Bierbeek, Flemish Brabant. The first 2 levels, made of rubble masonry, date back to that period.
The third level, constructed of brick and white stone, likely dates to the 17th century. The upper 2 levels, built in brick and topped with a crenelated platform, were added between 1820 and 1830, along with the small neo-medieval annex on ground level, made of rubble masonry. Octagonal turrets were also added, but they were removed again in 1907.
A new residential château was built just north of the tower in the 18th century.
Currently, the Bierbais Tower stands in the garden of a private residence and appears to be used for living space. It is not accessible to the public, but can be easily viewed from the public road. It’s a great tower, I would love to see the interior. The Alvaux Tower is close by.
