Birkat Al Mouz Towers

The Birkat Al Mouz Towers stand in the town of Birkat Al Mouz (or Mawz), in the Ad Dakhiliyah Governorate in Oman.

Several hills in and around the Birkat Al Mouz oasis are topped by watch towers. They aided the 17th century Bayt Ar Ridaydah Castle in its defense of the settlement. Historically these watch towers would be stationed by guards, especially at night, to guard the settlement against thieves and rebels.

The towers seem to have been restored and are freely accessible. Not very interesting, but nice to see if you are in town.
