Carastas Castle

Carastas Castle, locally known as Castillo de Carastas, Castillo de Ayamonte or Castillo de Vallehermoso, lies northeast of the town of Olvera in the province of Cádiz in Spain.

I have not been able to find any historical information about this castle. So if you know more, please mail me!

Carastas Castle is a small castle built on a tuff outcrop. Access to the castle is over a winding ramp that leads to the gate in a rectangular brick frame. The gate was protected by a small keep. Inside the castle is a rectangular building with two stories.

Carastas Castle is on a private agricultural property and can thus not be visited. A beautiful little castle ruin which seems to be used, now and then, as a cattle pen. From here you can easily see Hierro Castle to the west.
