César Castle

César Castle, locally known as Château César or Château de Vaulx, lies in the village of Vaulx, in the province of Hainaut in the Wallonia region in Belgium. It lies right next to the bridge over the Escaut River.

Although I have thoroughly searched the internet and my books, I don't know much about this beautiful ruin besides the fact that it is a classified monument and was probably built in the 13th century. If anyone has any information about the history of this castle, please email me!

César Castle is a small, rectangular castle with circular towers at each of its four corners. The entrance to the castle appears to have been at the riverside. There are some nice architectural details to observe, such as a bathroom sink, a well, a garderobe, and a vaulted cellar.

Unfortunately, the ruin doesn't seem to be maintained, as even the fence that protected the castle on its north side is gone. As a result, the ruin was freely accessible when I visited.

The impressive Antoing Castle is only a five-minute drive to the southeast.
