Gökçetepe Castle

Gökçetepe Castle

Gökçetepe Castle, locally known as Gökçetepe Kalesi, lies on a rocky hill south of the village of the same name, in the province of Edirne in Turkey.

Gökçetepe Castle is said to have been built by the Genoese in the 15th century. That is all the historical information I was able to find about it. If you know more, please mail me.

The castle is situated on a small peninsula jutting out into the Gulf of Saros. What remains of the castle is part of a ruined tower and a couple of small wall parts.

At present Gökçetepe Castle is freely accessible. And although the coastal area around the castle is being built up with holiday houses, you'll have to drive over dirt roads for some time to reach it. A nice small castle remnant.
