Heetvelde Castle

Heetvelde Castle, locally known as Kasteel van Heetvelde, lies north of the village of Oetingen, in the province of Flemish Brabant in the Flemish region in Belgium.
Heetvelde Castle was first built as a moated stronghold sometime during the 16th century by the Counts of Hainaut. It was situated at a strategic location, next to the border with the Duchy of Brabant and the County of Flanders. During religious conflicts in the 2nd half of that century, that initial castle was destroyed.
In the first half of the 17th century, the castle was rebuilt by Pieter Colins, Lord of Heetvelde and Oetingen. The new residential castle retained the medieval moated castle's layout and incorporated its remains.
It now features a square keep, with its core dating back to the late 16th century, and a rectangular wing connected to a round flanking tower. South of these are a freestanding D-shaped, former flanking tower, and a rectangular building.
Heetvelde Castle is now a private residence and cannot be visited. It's a very charming little castle, and it must be great to call that your home.
