Kaštelina Tower

Kaštelina Tower

Kaštelina Tower, locally known as Kula Kaštelina or Kaštel Zaton, stands in the village of Zaton, in the county of Zadar in Croatia.

During the 16th century, the area was ruled by the Republic of Venice and came under the ever-growing threat of Turkish invasion. The Venetians then built 3 towers around the town of Nin to protect it from Turkish aggression. This one was built, according to a plaque above the entrance, by a Hanibal Cirysagus in 1593. It is a square tower of 3 floors.

Kaštelina Tower is freely accessible. It is obscured behind several residences, so not on a very nice location, but is still a nice tower.
