Miaucourt Castle

Miaucourt Castle, locally known as Château de Miaucourt, lies in the town of Courcelles, in the province of Hainaut in the Wallonia region in Belgium.
This of course is not a real castle. It originally started as a simple 19th-century hunting lodge belonging to the Drion family. The Drions, who were wealthy forge masters, transformed the lodge into what is now known as Miaucourt Castle in the mid-19th century.
Early in the 20th century, there was a movement to expel religious congregations from France, and the castle was then converted into a female boarding school run by the Sisters of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary. During its time as a school, a chapel was added to the castle.
Later in the 20th century, the castle was abandoned. It was occupied by squatters at one point and partially destroyed by a fire. In 2001, the castle was struck by fire again. It was subsequently rebuilt and is now used for social housing.
It’s not a very impressive ‘castle,’ but I still like the appearance of the tower.
