Oberhöflein Castle

Oberhöflein Castle, locally known as Schloss Oberhöflein, lies north of the town of Orth an der Donau, in the province of Lower Austria in Austria.
Oberhöflein Castle was first mentioned in the 13th century.
Between 1481 and 1570, the fief of Oberhöflein belonged to the Counts of Hardegg. They had the castle rebuilt from a fortification into a residence during the 16th century.
In 1578, it was owned by Andreas Kielman von Kielmannsegg. Ernst Ferdinand, Baron von Breuner, bought the castle in 1658. The Barons of Suttner have owned the castle from 1724 up until the present. They had the castle rebuilt in the 18th century, giving it its present appearance. In 1945, the castle suffered from a fire.
The castle has a square ground plan with a square keep, another square tower at its east facade, and a gate tower. It is circled by a now-dry moat.
At present, Oberhöflein Castle is a private residence and can therefore not be visited. A castle with a romantic feel to it, I like it.
