Paşa Bastions

Paşa Bastions

The Paşa (Pasha) Bastions, locally known as Paşa Tabyaları, lie in the city of Sinop, in the province of Sinop in Turkey.

Although called the Paşa Bastions, this fort is actually a single, half-moon shaped, coastal bastion. It was built in the 19th century by the Ottomans to guard the harbor and shipyard of the city of Sinop. It had dormitories for the soldiers, an arsenal and 11 emplacements for cannons. When it was finally demilitarized, I don't know.

The fort is situated on the south side of the Sinop peninsula, about 3 km's east from the old city. Up until some years ago, the site was used as a restaurant with an open air terrace.

At present, the Paşa Bastions fort is not accessible. A nice small fort with some different types of cannons strewn around. It looks like it is abandoned and given over to nature.
