Ras Al Hadd Tower

Ras Al Hadd Tower

The Ras Al Hadd Tower Stands near the village of the same name, in the Ash Sharqiyah South Governorate in Oman.

The village of Ras Al Hadd is situated at a cape where the Gulf of Oman meets the Arabian Sea. This location made that several powers wanted to control this sandy coastal strip of land between the sea and the Ras Al Hadd Lagoon. To protect their lands against foreign occupation, local tribes built Ras Al Hadd Castle in the center of the village between 1560 and 1590.

The Ras Al Hadd Tower is situated at the shore of the lagoon, probably to aid in the castle's defensive role.

Ras Al Hadd Tower is freely accessible, if you dare to climb the step stones. I didn't. A simple round watchtower.
