Shindisi Castle

Shindisi Castle lies in the village of the same name, in the Gori municipality in the Shida Kartli region in Georgia.

I could not find any historical information about Shindisi Castle. If you know anything; please mail me.

I guess the castle dates back to the 17th/18th century. It is a so-called peasant castle, a 'galavani' as the Georgians call it. It is situated on the right bank of the Liakhvi River. It has a rectangular ground plan with circular towers on its 4 corners. The eastern curtain wall has almost completely disappeared. 

At present Shindisi Castle is freely accessible. A nice castle ruin.
