Soussey Tower

Soussey Tower, locally known as Tour or even Château de Soussey, lies in the village of Soussey-sur-Brionne in the Côte-d'Or department in France.

Soussey Tower was built in the 13th century as the defendable tower house of a local rural lord. During the 16th and 17th centuries alterations were made. One of these alterations was the short circular stair tower, giving access to the 1st floor. Originally the entrance to the tower would have been at that 1st floor level, with the ground floor used for storage and the top floor for defense.

The tower is a bit forgotten, situated in a small rural village. Maybe that is why I was not able to find any information about its history on the internet. During the guided tour I was given some historical information but, sadly enough, I can't recall that now after so many months. So, if you know more about its history; please mail me!

At present Soussey Tower can be visited for a fee during the summer months. A beautiful tower.
