Templeconnell Castle

Templeconnell Castle lies in a field in the townland of the same name, in County Cork, in Ireland.
Not much is known about this castle, other than that it belonged to the Magners and was taken over by the Percivals in 1656.
Templeconnell Castle is a 5-storey tower house, which originally would have stood in the southwest corner of a bawn. I think it dates back to the 15th/16th century. At present nothing remains of the bawn and the ruined castle is slowly disappearing under the ivy. There are large gaps in all but the west wall, showing that also interior walls have collapsed.
At present, Templeconnell Castle is situated on private farmland, partly surrounded by bogland, and can therefore not be visited. A nice tower but in a precarious state.
