Castle Kevin

Castle Kevin lies in the townland of the Castlekevin, in County Cork, in Ireland.
When Castle Kevin was founded is unknown. Supposedly it was a property of the Roche family, before it was granted to a William Thornhill, a Cromwellian soldier, in the 17th century.
In the 1830s, the Thornhills completely rebuilt the old castle by incorporating the old castle into the castellated mansion in the Elizabethan style we see today. In the mid-19th century, however, it was sold to the Reeves family, in whose possession it remained until the 1930s.
Castle Kevin is now a private residence and can not be visited. Also, because the castle grounds are walled, it is hard to see from the public road.
