Nurdağı Castle

Nurdağı Castle

Nurdağı Castle, locally known as Nurdağı Kalesi, lies on a hill next to the village of the same name, in the province of Gaziantep in Turkey.

On first glance Nurdağı Castle may look historical but it really is not, it is a pastiche. It was built in 2005 as the boundary of a municipal park encompassing the summit of a hill. There may have been something historical, like a settlement, at the site, as I found several spaces dug out of the bedrock which may have been dwellings or something like that, but surely no castle. Also, I could not find any mention of a castle here anywhere in my library or the internet.

Nurdağı Castle is freely accessible and the area inside its walls is made suitable for picnics. Not an interesting site.
