Of Castle
Of Castle, locally known as Of Kalesi, lies southwest of town of Of, in the province of Trabzon in Turkey.
Nothing is known about this castle. It probably is a Byzantine or Genoese fortification. Its small ruin is situated on a headland looking out over the Black Sea and probably consisted of a watch tower protected by a defensive wall.
The British historian A. Bryer calls it by the name of "Röşi / Rovşe". Apparently this was an old name for the port of Of.
Of Castle is freely accessible. The ruin and its immediate area feel a bit forgotten. The ruin itself was also very much overgrown, so I wasn't able to get a closer look or get in.
