White Fort

The White Fort, originally named Al Mareer Fort, lies in the town of Al Manama, in the emirate of Ajman in the United Arab Emirates.

I do not know when the White Fort was built. One source says it was built during the rule of Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, between 1873 and 1891. Another source says it was built somewhere during the 20th century, during the rule of Sheikh Rashid ibn Humaid Al Nuaimi, who ruled the emirate from 1928 until 1981. After it was built it was used as a royal residence. At present it houses the Al Manama Museum, which opened here in 2012.

I could not find any historical information about it. If you know more; please mail me.

White Fort can be visited as a guest of the museum. This museum was closed when I visited, too bad, I would have liked to have seen its interior. Red Fort is nearby.
